What is a desktop pet?
A desktop pet is a small animated character that lives on your computer screen, on top of your normal work. It wanders around, reacts to what you are doing, and keeps you quiet company. PebbletsIO makes hand-crafted 3D desktop pets for Mac and Windows.
Is PebbletsIO free?
The app is free to download and comes with a free pet, Waddle the duck. The other companions are one-time purchases of a few dollars each. There is no subscription and no in-app currency.
Does it work on Mac and Windows?
Yes. PebbletsIO runs on macOS and Windows. On Mac it needs Apple Silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 14 Sonoma or newer. On Windows it needs Windows 10 (21H2) or Windows 11, 64-bit, with a DirectX 12 GPU.
Do I own my pets forever?
Yes. Every pet is a one-time purchase that stays yours for good. Buy it once and keep it forever, with no renewals and no subscription.
Will a desktop pet slow down my computer?
No. The pets are built to sit quietly in the background and use very little power. They idle gently, slow down when they are off screen, and never get in the way of your work.
Can PebbletsIO see my screen or my files?
No. PebbletsIO never reads your screen and never looks at your files. The pets react to simple things like whether music is playing, not to what is on your display.
What do the pets actually do?
They wander across your desktop, notice what you are doing, rest, and dance when you play music. There are no tasks and no notifications. They are there to keep you company, not to nag you.
How do I buy a pet?
You buy pets inside the app, not on the website. Install PebbletsIO, open the store, add the pets you like to your cart, and check out. Payment is handled securely by Paddle.
Do the pets sync across my computers?
Yes. Sign in with Google or a one-time email code and the pets you own follow your account to your other computers. You can browse the whole roster without an account.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. If a pet is not for you, you can ask for a refund within 14 days of buying it. The full refund policy is on the Refunds page.
Do the pets need an internet connection?
No. Once a pet is installed it lives on your desktop and runs on its own. You only need a connection to download the app, buy new pets, and sync what you own.
Are there K-pop desktop pets?
Yes. The PopStars are a signature line of idol-style dancing companions who perform on your desktop. Each one is its own original character, inspired by the energy of K-pop stage performances.
How many companions are there?
There are more than twenty hand-crafted companions, from calm ducks and potted plants to drifting clouds and dancing idols. New ones are added over time.
How do I remove a pet or uninstall the app?
You can send any pet to rest from inside the app whenever you want a quiet screen, and bring it back later. Uninstalling PebbletsIO works the normal way for your system, and the pets you own stay tied to your account.
